This week's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, is "Top Ten Books that Will Make You Cry". This is a tough one, because I can't really share my reasoning for each choice without giving away major spoilers!
- The Knife of Never Letting Go, by Patrick Ness
- If I Stay, by Gayle Forman
- Handle With Care, by Jodi Picoult
- A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast For Crows, all by George R. R. Martin, who gleefully kills off everyone you love
- Eating Animals, by Jonathan Safran Foer. I own this book, but I have only ever made it through the first 30 pages, because I read all 30 pages with tears streaming freely down my face and spent the next several weeks trying desperately to wipe the book's graphic images from my mind. If you read this book, you will ugly cry through it. That's a given. But you will definitely learn a lot about the terrible realities behind the food you eat.
- Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins, for so many reasons
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling, who is probably bff with George R. R. Martin
- Before I Fall, by Lauren Oliver
- Gone With the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell
- The Pact, by Jodi Picoult
I feel like I could go on and on with this topic! What made your list?
Jodi Picoult and Harry Potter made my list as well! I've read Before I Fall, but it didn't make me cry.
Eating Animals, though...that sounds pretty full-on.

I think with Before I Fall, I spent the whole book really worried that it could only end badly, and that really stressed me out! Thanks for stopping by. :)

Great list, I've got Deathly Hallows on my list too but I can't believe I forgot about GRRM and Game of Thrones! I lost count of how many times I cried whilst reading those books, it was a lot considering how many characters he murdered!

Jodi Picoult is a great writer. I hear her latest book is a tearjerker too. Great list!

I'm sort of glad I didn't start watching/reading Game of Thrones before seeing all those pictures with all the deaths marked with sticky tabs. So basically, I know everyone dies and I try not to let myself get attached to anyone. But we'll see how well I do once I get to the books.
And The Knife of Never Letting Go. Ugh, carve my heart out and stomp on it, won't you, Patrick Ness?

Most of Jodi Picoult's books made me teary. Scarlett made me cry a lot more than
Gone With The Wind.

OMG! What a great list! I cannot believe I forgot Jodi Piccult! I have seen her on a couple now and I guess it's just been a while since I cried on one of them so it wasn't fresh in my head.
Thanks for stopping by earlier!

It's definitely best to read those books with a guarded heart! That said, I will rage if anything happens to Tyrion or Daenerys!

I haven't read her last few, must get on that!

Could not agree more re: The Knife of Never Letting Go! Augh, so hard to read! I actually really liked it except for THAT PART, but I've never been able to bring myself to read on to the next book. And now it's been so long that if I wanted to do that, I'd definitely need to reread the first book, and I just don't think I could handle going through that again! Haha, my husband still refers to that book as "the book where you cried so hard it woke me up in the middle of the night"!

I haven't read Scarlett, I've always been afraid to because of it being written by a different author. I own it, but I haven't read it. Which is kind of silly.

I think it's on a lot of lists today!

Oh, it's a really good one! Definitely give it a try.

Thank you! I had fun with this one. Apparently I'm a huge book baby haha.

So many tearful books. Ahhh I forgot to include Mockingjay, that tore me to pieces. I actually had to put the book down in that one scene because I couldn't stop crying.

A couple of these are on my list, too. I have heard that The Knife of Never Letting Go is really good and I am officially interested in reading it. It's probably weird, but if I hear a book will make me cry I am much more likely to read it.
Great list!

I really want to read The Knife of Letting Go. And I'm fairly certain I cried my way through Game of Thrones too!

When you pick up The Knife of Never Letting Go, make sure you have several hundred tissues and maybe a stuffie to clutch for comfort!

The Knife of Never Letting Go is a tough one because it's SO GOOD but also SO SAD! Some day I need to buck up and continue that series.

Great picks. If I Stay made my list too, such an emotional and beautiful book. I also picked Deathly Hallows, I pretty much cry from beginning to end when reading that. My TTT :)

If I Stay made me cry, like really, really cry. My chest was hurting while reading a big chunk of that book. Mockingjay was really an emotional read as well.
Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my blog earlier :)

Those are both so emotional! I need to reread If I Stay so I can read Where She Went, and I swear I have to work up the courage to go through it again!
