I know most people like to make their resolutions in January but honestly, I feel much more engergized during the fall! Instead of making resolutions for the whole year I'm just going to tackle the month of October and go from there, and at the end of the month I'll check back with a status report.
- Read 20 books during the month of October. I started out the year with a lofty goal of reading 200+ books in 2012, and I thought hitting that number would be simple. Then on January 17th I started graduate school and fell promptly into The Black Hole of Homework. If you follow me on Goodreads you know that I have read just 39 books so far. *dies of shame* In other words, I am failing miserably as a book blogger. (Although I'm positive that there are more than a few books that I've read, but forgot to update on Goodreads.) (Although not 161 of them.) It's clearly way too late to meet my goal for 2012, which is killing me, but I want to at least hit a respectable 100 books read in 2012, so I need to start off strong in October.
- Put myself on a blogging schedule, and put that schedule down on paper. Bottom line: every time I put myself on a blogging schedule, I post regularly and feel great about myself. The second I stop following the schedule, chaos ensues, blogging drops off, and I get the OCD Twitch of Failure. Lesson learned.
- Post a minimum of four posts per week, with at least two of them being book reviews.
- Participate in something in the book blogging community, whether it be a blog hop, a swap, or even just a regular meme or two. I have a few leads on this already so we'll see what comes of them.
- Comment on blogs regularly. I am a terrible person because I read blogs in Google Reader on my iphone, promise myself I'll go back later and comment when I'm on my laptop... and then never ever ever remember to actually do that. I obsessively read so many book blogs and the bloggers have no idea! I know how great it feels to get comments so I'm turning over a new leaf starting now.
- Twitter. I feel like I'm not really capable of having a healthy relationship with Twitter (see also: facebook). Either I'm tweeting nonstop to the point of obnoxiousness, or I disappear for months at a time. I need to find a happy medium.
I think I better stop here so I have some shot at actually accomplishing my goals! Now tell me: what are you hoping to accomplish in the month of October?
